On May 8th 2024, the A-Freeman Agency (agent for National American Movers) conducted an estimate at our property located in Colorado Springs CO, to provide a cost estimate quote to move our family from Colorado Springs to Texas. We were originally quoted $5,174.70 with a written email confirmation stating that the price will not increase and we agreed to the quote and signed the document. Prior to the actual move date, we then added a king mattress and a drum set to our list of items to include in the move, which the estimator representing National American Movers(Lisa Windus) informed me will cost a few hundred dollars more. This was acceptable so we agreed, however, they did not provide an updated contract per our request.
Movers then showed up on July 16th and questioned the quote as the estimator did not seem to have quoted us correctly on the items in the basement which was the main storage area in our home. Once all of our belongings had been put on the truck and sent to their warehouse, the next morning Lisa Windus called me to tell me that we need to sign the new quote of $8,243, which was based on actual weight of the items. If we refused to pay this new amount, they would hold our belongings hostage at their warehouse, denying us access to them. After many emails and phone calls with Bruce Neidenfeuhr, we chose to pay the new amount not because we agreed with the price change, but because we were in an empty house with two small children who desperately needed some of the comforts of their personal belongings. In addition to that, Bruce Neidenfeuhr, Director of Consumer Sales, promised that they would “fix those issues for us.” At that point, we had not had our household goods for over a week and made the payment in order to receive our belongings.
Mr. Neidenfeuhr is now accusing us of “hiding” over 5400 lb of items and he is using this as a justification for the additional cost. We have two estimates from competitors (attached), one for $8,981(equating to 9,540 lbs when North American only estimated the move at 5,772lbs) and the other for $9,167(equating to 8,666lbs). These quotes were much higher than the $5,174 ( equating to 5,772lbs) the A-Freeman Agency quoted us for North American, so obviously we chose to use them. It now seems that North American misquoted our move, which is their fault not ours, and is now trying to do exactly what they said they would not do which is increase the price.
When the truck driver for North American(Don) arrived at our home in Lakeway, he also stated that he had spoken to the Sales Agent and the Coordinator and that it was clear that the sales estimator(Lisa Windus) had not quoted us correctly and was violating their policy by trying to increase the price by another $3k.
In addition to all of this, our home of origin as well as many of our house hold goods were damaged during the move. North American is now refusing to repair or compensate us for that damage, which they are contractually obligated to do, until we pay their inflated price in full. We are currently pursuing legal action against North American in hopes of resolving this issue.definitely not recommending this company!!

A1 Freeman just finished performing our PCS, and they did a fantastic job. We had a heck of a busy, cluttered house, and it had to have been a nightmare to perform despite any help we tried to offer, yet they still knocked it out of the park and even got our belongings 2/3 of the way across the country within just a few days and had them placed neatly in our new home before half of our family could even make it there. It should be noted that their truck was not able to fit down our new driveway, so they had to rent another, smaller truck, and offload everything from the big truck to that smaller truck, drive it down the driveway and offload it there, making many trips to do so, and STILL they pulled this all off perfectly and quickly. Every single person in their crew took measures to be accurate and productive in their work and were also polite and professional while doing so. I have heard nothing but horror stories about military moves, but with these guys, everything went incredibly well. I am knocked off my feet at how well and happily they performed this move. A1 Freeman, thank you for everything, we really appreciate you and the work and care you put into our move. You are incredible at your profession! Thank you!
EDIT: i would also like to add that a decent chunk of our belongings are delicate, valuable, expensive machines, which i originally planned on packing and moving myself, as these machines are known for breaking easily in transit, but after a short talk with one of the movers, i was assured that they could do it well, and they sure did! A1 Freeman is great at their job!

They only got 2 stars due to the packers. They were great. The movers on the other hand - let’s just say if I had the option to fire them on the spot, I would have done so. They were awful. Did not care about my stuff, my house, even though we were there. In fact, it seemed as though they hated us and had no issue arguing with my wife and I. A chest that has been in my family for over 100 years and refurbished by my Dad, broke. Entertainment center broke; didn’t even make off the property. Dining room table, broke. All my furniture sustained damage. Candidly, I’m surprised more was not broke based on how they handled my stuff. Granted, we’re not done unpacking yet. Date of service was 9 Feb 24.

BEWARE! I cannot express how awful this moving experience was. Some of the highlights were: loading crew THROWING my items down the stairs, packing 4 pictures together in a regular box with no packing paper, not shrink-wrapping my upholstered furniture even though I begged them multiple times to please do so. The list goes on and on. I ended up with $8,000 worth of claims and am still having to deal with the mess A-1 Freeman left me with (7 months ago). So now I beg you, please DO NOT give this company your business.

The guys who picked up our HHG were great. The driver is great too! The people packing were way too nitpicky and unprofessional. They wouldn’t take ANYTHING opened. Even makeup. Hell they wouldn’t pack makeup UNOPENED. I had to get rid of hundreds of $$ worth of makeup, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, perfumes, cleaning supplies (I understood no bleach, aerosol, etc). The driver even said that was ridiculous. To top it off we told them to not pack our nightstand and they went through it anyways. Pretty positive they took pictures of our items too because they were all giggling around one of their phones like school girls right before telling us they can’t take those items (probably because of the lube?). Very unprofessional and immature.
