Don't use them for long-distance moving. Our "estimate" via video chat of $11k ended up costing us $14k. They underestimated drastically and we ended up having to rent a U-Haul to get all of our things moved. The guys who did the moving -- who actually work for Allen's -- were great. The people they hired as contractors, were awful. They bled on things, they broke things, they were supremely reckless. The people in the office offered no apologies for anything. They reimbursed us, 5 weeks later, for $165. We have no idea how they came to $165. Communication has been awful. Had we known that moving would cost us $14k with Allen's, we would have gone with one of the other companies -- local to our previous home -- who actually bid $10k or less. We chose Allen's because we thought we would benefit from their local familiarity. If you're coming from out of state, get a mover from your current home area or choose a company who hires someone to come to your home to give you an accurate estimate. That's what one of the movers told us normally happens. Another of the movers commented that they liked the guy who did the estimate, but that he needed to do his job better, implying that this wasn't the first time he screwed up.

Had a great group to unload after a move. The 3-person group; Matt, Alicia and Izzy worked efficiently and were incredibly productive and professional. So appreciative as they completely alleviated the stress of a move. Thank you! EDIT:During delivery there were 2 damaged items, both due to extremely tight wrapping. One of them was an antique mahogany table that had 3 broken legs due to the tight wrap. We really were only concerned with getting this fixed properly, as it was an original purchase by a family member. After meeting with the Director of Operations, John Kane, he offered $308 for both items. The table repair cost was $500 and we only asked to fix the table. We emailed John twice with the receipt and request, no response. We took on all the responsibility that the workers acknowledged was due to their error and John hasn't made it right by simply paying the additional $192. We were good customers, paid over $3,500 for storage with them nearly 2 years, not including the moves and had an excellent interaction with every employee until it came to repairing the item they damaged. I couldn't recommend them if they aren't willing to fix something that was completely due to their mistake.

Matt and Izzy came and moved my house and I do not have enough good things to say about them. They were punctual, friendly and went above and beyond to make sure they took care of every piece of furniture. I would recommend them to absolutely anyone who needs to move! Great teamwork! Everyone at Allen’s from start to finish has been a pleasure to work with!
