I previously worked at a skilled nursing facility helping patients set up transportation to go to their appointments for over a year. George and his team of drivers at Quality Care were always our number one choice whenever a patient needed transportation. I am very happy with the services that Quality Care Transportation provided. About Us We offer non-emergency medical transportation with courteous and friendly drivers at competitive rates. We can transport clients in wheelchairs, on gurneys, and we offer car transports for ambulatory clients as well as our fully equipped vans. Our clients' comfort and safety are our highest priorities. Our vans are equipped with hydraulic lifts and ramps to safely transport wheelchairs. We have extra wheelchairs, stair climbers and other adaptive equipment to assist us. We offer door to door service for medical, chiropractic, and dental appointments, dialysis, hospital discharges, outpatient surgery, physical therapy and other routine treatments. We also offer transportation to outings such as shopping trips, salon appointments, family gatherings, dining-out, church, and theater. We work closely with retirement communities and skilled nursing facilities around the Bay Area as well as conservators and social workers, in getting seniors to their appointments and out into the community so they can remain active and engaged. Our Story Baker’s Transit, formerly known as Quality Care Transportation, was a business owned and operated by George Baker for over ten years. The business is now named in tribute to Mr. Baker. The new Baker’s Transit maintains every bit of quality and care as it has always been known for. Shaun Charles owner of Beacon Homecare, (a successful and well respected name in homecare around the Bay Area) purchased the business with the intent of carrying on the high standard of customer service, the personalized care and adaptability that QC was known for. Baker’s Transit aims to expand into all of the areas served by Beacon Homecare offering a boutique experience where caregivers and companions can be added to the transportation to fit clients needs. We understand the limitations an aging population faces and are here to keep seniors active and in good health by getting them out and about. Our drivers and office team form real friendships with our clients and their families, much as our predecessor George Baker did before his retirement. Many of our clients have worked with Mr. Baker for years and we hire drivers who are able to uphold those relationships and keep his reputation of hard work and commitment. In other words we love our jobs and we adore being in the business of serving others. FAQs Starting a business in the time of covid has been challenging mostly in terms of finding and hiring the most qualified candidates. We currently have three drivers with three vans and a total of six vans that we hope to get into service as soon as possible. Being located in Albany, CA the majority of our clients are based nearby in Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, and San Leandro but we are willing to go to neighboring counties at some additional cost. We aim to have regular routes in each service area, for example a dedicated driver in the Contra Costa area, Alameda County, Millbrae area etc.. We do have the special equipment to carry wheelchairs up stairs. We do not always have enough staff to have two drivers available to safely use it. We will need some notice in scheduling so that we can get the job done by two trained drivers in a safe manner. The same for gurney transports, we have the equipment, and with enough notice we can staff to accommodate a gurney transport. In this business there are constantly changing schedules and needs so please understand we are growing and learning. We look forward to expanding services to fit the needs of all potential clients.
