Please avoid !!! Horrible experience!!!! I was using the storage service of flat Rate for around 6 months already all my furniture was new when I left it with them, I had to move from NYC to San Francisco I also used their services to move with FlatRate on _September 2020. When the furniture arrived at my apartment in California, I immediately noticed damage to all my furniture. I specifically asked the representative if my furniture was covered in the event of damage and he said that it was and did not mention that it was only covered for .60 per pound. I was sent a 2 page document to sign and was being pressured to get it back as soon as possible (they were telling me if I don’t get it back fast enough I might lose my moving day). It seems that this information was intentionally I submitted a claim and have now been waiting months for a response. Every time I call they tell me that they will get back to me, but never do. Looking through other reviews it seems that broken furniture, poor customer service and dishonest business practices are a common theme with FlatRate. also the sales representative pressured me to add the tip in advance to the movers on my credit card, money that they never gave to the actual movers.

FlatRate has been extremely responsive for the whole process, provided the very best pricing for my move, and hired a very skilled group of people to pick up my furniture in Seattle. The Seattle moving team was able to come in, pack up, and move all of my stuff within an hour. They respond via email or texting which is super useful especially when moving and not always having access to a computer. I would highly recommend them for anyone moving cross country.

They were really professional! Paula and Sean helped me out with setting up my move, everything was really easy! This is my first time ever using a moving company and I have to say I'm satisfied. There's no deposit required, they'll charge your card on file 2 days prior to your moving date and I have to say the price I got was AFFORDABLE! The other companies I inquired were a little to pricing for my taste so I'm glad I went with FlatRate Moving. Really appreciate the professionalism and customer service I was provided! 😊

The man I worked with was late to our Video Appointment. He then insisted that something was wrong with my audio when in fact it was his headphones that were the problem. When it came time to make a promise for a Flat Rate, they were asking almost $4k to move a couple hundred miles within state. Mind you this is for 2 bedrooms worth of stuff and some packaged boxes. The man was smug when I let him know that other moving companies offered to do the move for cheaper, and had no interest in "earning" business. EDIT in response to OWNER: you have my contact information. Replies like the ones you copy-pasted are a joke.

This place has absolutely 0 integrity, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Our experience with FlatRate was riddled with issues and horrible customer service. It feels like we were scammed. There are plenty of other moving companies, choose a different one.. We recently moved across the country after having our furniture stored with FlatRate for ~8 months while living in corporate housing. After relocating, we contacted FlatRate to schedule a move date. We specifically inquired with the representative as to whether or not there insurance is included or if we would need to pay extra because some of the things are expensive. We were told not to worry and that all of their moves are insured. Keep in mind this guy was explicitly informed that the value of the furniture was very high, and also had access to the information in terms of exactly how much all of the furniture was worth. Long story short, when the furniture arrived they had smashed several of our items, including a very expensive custom piece of furniture (over $2,000). They are offering $300 in compensation. Upon delivery, we were presented with a bill of lading. Per the contract we e-signed, "you will select your level of liability later on the bill of lading" .... not only did we not select our level of liability, but this was not explained nor was the bill of lading even presented. On the bill of lading, it is VERY clear that you must sign a specific clause where you waive full protection. As we did not ever sign this waiver, FlatRate should be fully liable. It is very clear that they lack any form of ethics in the way that they conduct business - this probably comes up for many people, and they end up not getting a fair compensation because they claim that you waived your coverage by signing their e-contract. We are currently fighting this and I will provide updates. Yet another issue -- it turns out that FlatRate continued charging us for storage for 7 months after they had already removed everything from storage and destroyed it in transit to our new apartment. This money was returned but once again, it seems that these people are looking to take advantage of you at every turn. Needless to say we will NOT be using FlatRate again. I would encourage anyone considering them to FIND ANOTHER MOVING SERVICE. I hope that this post saves someone the headaches that we are currently dealing with.
