Woodland arranged to move all my household belongings from West Hartford, CT to Chicago, IL. The sales guys, first Bob Hebb and then Chris Whittaker, were cordial, informative, and responsive. They walked us through the process, gave accurate estimates, and answered all our questions. The packing team (Ashley, Graciela, and Anyelica) worked quickly, quietly, and competently. The loaders (Gimani, Monica, Leo, and Edrique) removed everything and loaded the trailer in 4 hours. They were careful and respectful. Woodland even put my car in the trailer at a competitive price. The long-distance driver (Eric Warren) and his dispatcher with ILS stayed in close communication with me. The shipment arrived exactly as predicted. Eric and his 3 assistants (Tyler, Schuyler, and Andrew) were industrious and extremely courteous. They deposited all the boxes as instructed, and reassembled all our furniture. Negatives on the move? Woodland could have done a much better job of inventory control. Furniture hardware was not stowed as well as it could have been; some small items (screws, protective cushions, etc.) disappeared and had to be replaced. But, as far as we can tell, we lost nothing of value and there was no significant damage. I recommend Woodland without hesitation. If you plan to do your own boxing, keep in mind that your boxes will be tossed about, turned upside down, and stacked 10 feet high. Tape your boxes well, put your name on each one, and indicate which room it should go to.

Woodland Movers did a great job with Dad’s move. Gimani & Harold were terrific - efficient, careful, calm & kind. Woodland was the only seamless part of this move, so THANK YOU!

As of 09 May 23: Use woodland moving if you want a solid crew who are super respectful and professional. We had a complex move and the process was clunky, but they were able to get everything done on time with some ease. Only hang up: too many people in the process. Make the crew who inspects your move prior to the pack date the crew that will come and pack and load. I felt bad for the crew communication gap and it got to be a bit frustrating but we all worked through it on the ground. Update as of 07 July 23: We just received our shipment on 06 July 23. Almost every major piece of furniture (e.g., bed frames (x2); bookshelves; nightstands (x2); desk used to WFH; etc.) is broken beyond repair or the box is destroyed. We are still going through the move and have not unpacked TVs yet and our record player so we still have more to go through. Please see attached photos of what the damages were. Update as of today: All was made whole - by the DoD Moving Coordinators; not the subcontracted companies - but the annoyance of the whole thing brings it to 2/5 stars.

If I could give this company negative stars I would just to help other people know they should not use this company! They stated they would send a “full” crew to pack over two days. On the first day, after waiting two hours past the expected arrival time, we called only to find out that the first pack day was cancelled because we did not have enough stuff to warrant a two day pack. They also said they would send a full crew to ensure a seamless pack. On the second day the crew did not show up until 1pm after several calls from us. The “full” crew were three individuals that immediately came in to use our bathroom. They complained about how many stairs we had and that it was too hot. They left after three hours stating that the moving crew would take care of the rest. On the actual move day, we were told that the crew would arrive between 8a-10a. The TMM people arrived promptly on time, but still no crew. After several inquiry calls, we were notified that one truck had broken down, but not to worry because they would be sending a double crew with two trucks to help cover the time. NO ONE arrived until 7pm! And that was a crew of one person with his wife and little kid. The poor guy kept trying to make it work, but there was no way he could move much with just his wife. After another hour the other truck showed up with only two additional people. That was their “full” crew X2! They kept complaining that there were too many stairs, the boxes were heavy and that the packers were supposed to have done so much more. Additionally, the foreman was unable to contribute much help because he was doing inventory. Please note that all of the things loaded into the first truck were never inventoried. All in all they did not finish until 2am. We specifically noted we would be awaiting arrival 6/19-6/20 (pack and move days were 6/11-6/14). 6/26 update: no crew as of 11am. After a call the company said they would NOT be sending anyone yet because the driver was still waiting for the hired crew to complete another job!!! Approximately 10 min later a truck shows up with just a driver. What in the world is one line person going to do?! So I packed up the babies and the dog into the car, only thing is the driver blocked the driveway, so we are stuck and it’s raining. But that’s not his fault, he had no idea. My husband was forced to help because this poor man was the same driver that arrived alone with family in tow before! This poor guy… I have no idea what kind of moving company makes their customers help move things because they don’t send any more help. Absolutely ridiculous. Stay clear unless you want to do the move yourself. 8/26/24 Update: We were contacted by the company and believed they were going to try to make things right given how much of a headache they caused and how many things were lost and/or damaged during the move. However that turns out to not be the case. They requested we provide an estimate for the cost of touching up and repairing the damage to the house that the movers caused. We had painted prior to the move when the house was empty as our experience with movers in the past is that they are so cautious in taking care of the walls and other items during the move. We provided the estimate and have never heard back. So they only pretended to be responsive and never followed through. My husband has reached back out several times and they have yet to respond. To be fair, moving can cause damage, that is understood. However, the amount of damage caused was a lot. Additionally, when the supplemental crew finally showed up they reeked of marijuana. They were supposed to also do the unpacking, but 2 of them barely wanted to work and there were so many scratches, dings and even holes put into the walls. I again caution anybody considering this company to take their business somewhere else!

DO NOT USE. AVOID. They completely damaged a wall lining the staircase from the top to bottom and they broke a king mattress by trying to fold it in half. The claim process for the damage took almost 3 months. And the outcome was only $94 in compensation for a $2,500+ mattress. Completely ridiculous and unprofessional. When the movers were completing the job, they moved incredible slow, and took over 7 breaks throughout the day that were 15+ minutes in duration. We were charged for all of the time they wasted.
